Honest in Our Impact

Updated: Nov 26

Honest notes on building a values-driven business from the ground up.

At Midwest Quality Co., we’ve always said we want to build this brand with honesty, in our craft, in our community, and in our impact.

The truth is, we’re not perfect. Our materials, sourcing, and production could all have a smaller footprint. Every decision we make is a balance between durability, style, and sustainability. We’re learning that building a responsible brand isn’t about achieving some flawless standard; it’s about owning where we are and staying committed to doing better with each step forward.

We believe in being transparent about our process and our thought process. Greenwashing is easy, but honesty takes work. Our goal isn’t to create the illusion of sustainability, but to take responsibility for our impact and refine our methods as we grow.

Part of that growth includes giving back to the places that inspire us. Through our partnership with 1% for the Planet, a portion of every sale supports efforts that protect the lands and waters we all depend on.

It’s not a badge or a sales pitch; it’s simply one way we can hold ourselves accountable to something bigger than the brand.

Still, our impact runs deeper than materials or donations. We hope it shows up in the daily lives of those who wear our gear and share our story. Wearing Midwest Quality Co. isn’t about showing off an eco label; it’s about living with intention and doing the little things right, even when no one’s watching.

That mindset runs deep in the Midwest. It’s the belief that small, steady actions add up. Whether it’s cleaning up a trail, repairing something instead of replacing it, or leaving a place better than you found it, those quiet moments of care shape lasting change.

It’s also about doing more in a job than is ever expected of you, not because someone’s keeping score, but because pride in your work still matters. That’s what Midwest quality means to us: integrity in every detail, and effort that often goes unseen but never unfelt.

During the stillness of the pandemic, the air cleared, animals returned, and the environment began to heal. It was proof that when we slow down and act with intention, even small actions made by many can create powerful change. It reminded us that progress doesn’t always come from grand gestures, but from consistent, thoughtful effort shared by all of us.

As we grow, we’ll keep finding ways to reduce our impact, build things that last, and lead with integrity in everything we do. Progress won’t happen all at once, but doing the small things right is where it always starts.

The way you do anything is the way you do everything.
